About the Artist

While their name may bring to mind dread or sorrow, the music of Oh No! Oh My! is nothing but bouncy pop goodness. Charismatic to the last hand clap, their live sets are communal lovefests. Fans are part of the show and feed off the catchy vibes from the Austin trio. Perhaps the epitome of a SXSW indie pop band each member plays a variety of instruments, from accordion and bells to DJ mixers and Wurlitzers. Their self-titled debut arrived in 2006 with a set of sunny head bops that upon repeat listening reveal depth and articulation that is usually found in much more mature bands.

How did you approach your Rock The Rabbit T-Shirt Design? We like using the exclamation point in our name because to us it means excitement! We are a band that gets excited easily so we thought it fit. So we went with that and thought it would be cool to have the Bunny as the point!

Do you have a favorite article of clothing? I think I can speak for all of us when I say some of our favorite clothes are the awesome shirts we received from Modern Amusement out of LA. And of course we are all huge Puma fans.

Where did you pick up ideas about style and design? Is it related at all to your music? We don't really have a style--or we didn't until people started throwing clothes on us and we just wore what we were given. As long as it covers our naked body.

Do you have a favorite musician whose style you really like? Has that musician influenced your style? Greg: I've only recently gotten into Bob Dylan, for some reason it just clicked last year why his music is so great. I don't think it's influenced my style though because I sound like an idiot covering his songs.

What does Playboy mean to you? When do you recall discovering Playboy? Greg: Last week was the first time I've ever seen a woman's naked body. Thanks Playboy.

Beatles or Stones? Beatles. Duh.

Were there bands you heard at a certain point in your lives that made a huge difference in how you thought about music? Joel: It was the Beach Boys. We always got CD's sent to us in the mail and I grabbed a bunch of their records from my dad and listened to them. I loved it and I think that's when I realized it was be awesome if I could do something like that one day.

Who put on the best live show you ever saw, and why was it so good? Greg: I would have to say when I saw Radiohead at The Woodlands in Houston. They are my old favorite band, it was extremely special to finally see them in person and have every last minute of the show meet all of my expectations.

Do you guys have a pre-game ritual or a superstition before or during shows? Joel: I came up with a prayer that we say now before every show. We were in the dressing room at the Nokia theater in NY, it goes like this: Dear God give us grace we just want to rock this place...rock it hard...rock it fast...make the people move their butts.

What was the best show you ever played? Why? What makes a good show from your perspective? Greg: I would have to say Lollapalooza. To us it was sort of a dream come true to actually be playing there. We were all so worried that nobody would show up to see us, but there was an amazing turnout and some people even had home made Oh No! Oh My! shirts in the front, it was all so amazing to us. So now whenever we play a show we compare it to Lolla.

At what point do you know a song is good? Do you ever have an idea you just know is going to kill? Greg: I usually don't think anybody else is going to like the songs so when they do it's a huge surprise.

What's the most exciting thing you've done in the past year as a result of your music career? Greg: Playing our very first show. It was at a tiny record store without a real sound system, but by the end people were dancing. It made me think to myself "Wow, I think people actually like this music!" I'll never forget it.

Best song you've been listening to lately? Greg: "Young Folks" by Peter Bjorn and John

Favorite new band? Joel: The Deadly Syndrome

Favorite bedroom album? Joel: Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot

How have the technology boom and the internet affected the way you approach promoting your music? Greg: I give most of the credit to the Internet, we wouldn't be where we are today if it wasn't for online promotion and such. Blogs and online stores like insound.com are really what boosted us out of complete obscurity. Then we started to actually get phone calls instead of emails. People really do exist out there.
